Toby manages business and board sales for his step-dad Mike Hynson (Endless Summer movie) . The SPCFSH (spacefish) design was made using Toby’s cumulative knowledge he gained from working with Mike and many designers in the scene of Encinitas, California. Toby was born and raised in Encinitas, the center of surf culture and progressive design. Toby was a professional surfer at a young age. He went on to start many start up companies and helps run Mike Hynson Surfboards.

A collaboration with Toby’s company, Cuture Supply, has enabled us to bring you the most ultra-modern high performance Fish shape. A traditional fish width and rail line, with modernized with a fast flat mid section and spiral V out the tail. Fast and playful so you can get creatively in flow on waist to head high waves…. like Southern California gets on the regular.

Why are they so expensive?

These boards have a soft shell— but they are very HARD to make.

Each board takes an average of 8 hours extra labor compared to a typical board.

We build these boards using similar methods to any board builder. EPS foam and memory foam rails are all hand shaped. Basalt cloth is lighter and stronger than E glass and is stronger than carbon fiber. Basalt cloth is made from strands of volcanic rock woven into a fabric. We use epoxy resin with the basalt to form a very strong and light board.

BUT there is more—— we then vacuum a smooth aerospace vinyl like foam over the ENTIRE board. Why? Because it makes the board almost impossible to ding. Even if you crack the board inside, the skin will hold back any water from entering. Therefore, insuring this board can TRULY last your lifetime and whoever inherits it beyond.
